About
If you're searching for an exquisite dining experience in Bogotá, look no further than Cactus, nestled in the charming neighborhood of Chapinero. This remarkable restaurant has earned its stripes as a go-to destination for food lovers, thanks to its delicious offerings and inviting atmosphere. Whether you're keen on a casual meal or a lavish dinner, Cactus strikes the perfect balance between comfort and elegance.
Guests rave about the robust flavors and artful presentation of the dishes. Michael Eisenstein praises the baby beef steak, emphasizing its remarkable quality at fair prices. Meanwhile, Federico Bonilla cherishes Cactus as a family favorite that has stood the test of time, spanning three generations. It’s evident that the strong legacy and consistent excellence keep patrons returning.
One highlight that stands out is the empanadas, as noted by Lynne Martin Erickson. Described as “crisp pillows of pastry,” these delicious bites are filled to perfection and paired beautifully with a touch of lime and a zesty green sauce (aji). The grilled salmon, cooked to a flawless medium, melts in the mouth and serves as a testament to the culinary prowess at Cactus. Its pairing with sautéed spinach instead of the traditional fries showcases the restaurant's flexibility and understanding of personal tastes.
The ambiance at Cactus is equally noteworthy. Lynne mentions the extraordinary attention to detail in the design, creating a lovely environment both indoors and in the lush garden patio. This setting invites guests to unwind while relishing their meals. Feedback from Nicolas Villegas T highlights that Cactus maintains classic charm, offering an upscale experience with standout items like burgers, sandwiches, and premium steaks, ensuring that every palate finds satisfaction.
Furthermore, patrons have consistently commended the attentive and friendly staff. It’s this level of service that elevates a good meal into a memorable dining experience. As Lesik points out, the only suggestion for improvement would be the addition of homemade chili sauces to complement the Mexican-inspired dishes, but this minor detail hardly detracts from the overall excellence.
In a city bursting with culinary options, Cactus stands out not just for its delicious food but for its commitment to creating lasting memories for its patrons. For a delightful escape into a world of rich flavors and a welcoming atmosphere, Cactus is a must-visit on your Bogotá culinary journey.
“ Good restaurant, nice meat and fish. Food is good in general, service is friendly and attentive. The only thing i would suggest, as a Mexican style of food missing nice homemade chili sauce. ”
“ Amazing food and service. All time favorite , we have been going there with the family, since I remember, 3 generations now ”
“ Good place to go. Sandwiches are nice. I had half roast beef with Swiss cheese sandwich with fries, and it was nice. Prices are a little high but the food is very good. ”
“ Classic upscale restaurant with great burgers, sandwiches and steaks ”
“ This is bogota old school sandwich joint, it’s classical Roast beef or Club House sandwich are unmistakably best sandwiches in town. The parrilla is also a no brainer with juicy steaks (baby beef and bifecito). Entrees are generous ”
“ Very recommended place! Very good food, fair prices. I ate baby beef steak which was very good. The place is not to crowded and the atmosphere is pleasant. The service is excellent ”
“ First of all, this is just a lovely place to eat. The designers paid great attention to detail, resulting in a very pleasant environment, whether you choose to eat inside or on one of their excellent patios. Coming from below-zero temperatures in Wisconsin, we had to choose dining in a lush garden. I got off to a great start with a very generous pour of a crisp Chilean white. Then came the most amazing empanadas we have ever tasted. Crisp pillows of pastry with a delicious mashed interior. We squeezed on a bit of lime and then spooned on a very tasty green sauce (aji .) I ordered the 3/4 pound grilled salmon (ordered medium); they allowed me to sub spinach for the usual French fries. The salmon had a crisp edge; the filet was melt-in-my-mouth perfection. The spinach was perfect. I thought that 3/4 pound was a lot and it was. But I didn’t leave a single flake on my plate. My brother ordered pork tacos. They came ready-to-eat, with sides of guacamole, tomatoes, refried beans, remoulade and crisp fresh greens. He pronounced them the best he had ever had. The servers were friendly and efficient. We left with wide smiles on our faces, trying to figure out how we can fit in another meal here before returning to the tundra next week. ”
